Jasmine Paolini v Viktorija Golubic Head to Head

Golubic leads Paolini 2-0, last defeating her in the Saint-Malo Challenger final in 2021.

Paolini Knocks Out Sabalenka

Jasmine Paolini has delivered one of the biggest wins of her career by knocking out the world number three Aryna Sabalenka at Indian Wells. The Italian took the match 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to pile on to Sabalenka’s form woes and also match her best showing in the valley. The win followed a straight-set triumph over Katie Boulter in the opener.

Last October, the 26-year-old reached the same stage (as a qualifier) and lost ultimately to Jessica Pegula.

Since then, Paolini has reached the semifinal in Courmayeur and the quarterfinal in Linz. In 2022, however, she hasn’t enjoyed this kind of success that much. On the Australian courts, the world number 46 was dismissed in the opening rounds – and it was the same case in Doha and Dubai too.

In the Lyon Open, however, she was one of the elite eight but fell to Dayana Yastremska. On the doubles circuit, she was a finalist in Melbourne Set with Sara Errani.

Paolini’s singles record includes a WTA title she won in Slovenia last year and two Challenger finals.

Golubic Moves Past Putintseva

Number 31 seed Viktorija Golubic got a bye into the second round and defeated Yulia Putintseva 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 to once again reach the round of 32 in Tennis Paradise.

Currently ranked World No. 51, the 29-year-old Swiss has had a muted campaign in 2022. With the exception of a quarterfinal run in Melbourne 1, Golubic has been defeated in the opening stages in Adelaide, Melbourne Slam, Dubai, Doha, and most recently, Lyon. It is worth noting that four of those five defeats came in three sets – three of which were against players ranked well below her.

While Golubic saw a fair bit of success in 2021 – two WTA finals, two ITF finals, one Challenger win, and an Olympic silver, she hasn’t quite managed to translate that into bigger, more prominent performances.

Paolini v Golubic Prediction and Tip

This one may very well go to three sets before we see a winner. Both players are evenly matched and will be optimistic about their chances. Moreover, they are quite resilient and determined to fight hard and test the limits of their opponents. We are in for an entertaining match.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 8/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
