Rublev Continues Streak

Andrey Rublev extended his winning streak to 13 matches as he rolled into the semi-finals of the Indian Wells Masters for the first time in his career.

Coming off wins against Dominik Koepfer, Frances Tiafoe and Hubert Hurkacz  without dropping a set, the Russian continued his form against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.

Rublev broke early to go up in the first set looking strong on serve and on the return. However, the Bulgarian using deft skill and soft hands played an excellent game to break and equalize in the first set.

With the set at 5-5, it looked like it was headed for a tiebreak. But, another break by Rublev ensured there was no looking back in the set as he took the first set 7-5.

It was all Rublev in the second set with an early break and pressure on every Dimitrov service game, ensuring a straight sets win and a place in the final four in Tennis Paradise for the first time in his career.

The World No. 7 is now two wins away from a third consecutive title this year. He triumphed in Marseille and Dubai over the last two tournaments, thus taking his career tally to 10 titles.

Fritz In Another Indian Well Semi

American Taylor Fritz had a good run here last year making the final four defeating Alexander Zverev enroute before losing out to runner-up Nikoloz Basilashvili.

It was a tight contest for Fritz to make the quarters here this year, up against Aussie Alex de Minaur coming back from behind after being outplayed in the opening set. This was coming after another tight three-setter against Spain’s Jaume Munar.

Playing Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarters, it was not going to be easy for Fritz with the Serbian coming off an impressive win against Italy’s Matteo Berrettini.

It was a tight first set with Fritz prevailing in a breaker but the Serb broke right back to take the second 6-3 and send the match into a decider.

Kecmanovic was unable to maintain his form in the third set with Fritz breaking twice early and closing the match 6-1 in the third.

Fritz will be looking to go one better than last time and make the finals of a Masters 1000 for the first time in his career.

Rublev v Fritz Prediction and Tip

Both players are in good form and looking for their first ever final appearance here at Indian Wells. While the American will have the crowd going for him, Rublev has looked like dominating in recent tournaments and continued that form this fortnight.

Expect a tight contest with Rublev prevailing in a decider.
