Shaui Zhang v Clara Tauson Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between these two players.

Tauson arrives in Miami seemingly playing good tennis, however, the draws have not been on her side resulting in some early exits for the Danish player. Tauson fell in the second round to eventual Indian Wells champion Iga Swiatek after defeating Haddad-Maia in the opening round. The Dane proved to be a tough battle for Swiatek, losing in 3-sets 6-7(3) 6-2 6-1.
Prior to this in Doha, Tauson drew Bencic in round one, where she scored an impressive win over the Swiss winning 6-4 3-6 6-3. However, in the next round drawing 3rd seed Badosa, where she lost out 6-1 6-2.
Again in Melbourne, Tauson reached the 3rd round after defeating Sharma and Kontaveit in the opening rounds but then coming up against eventual finalist Collins in the round-of-32 narrowly losing out 4-6 6-4 7-5 to the American.
Tauson does have a chance to make at least the third round here in Miami however, as a win over Zhang will set up an encounter with 24th seed Cirstea, a match where she will fancy her chances.

Zhang Coming off Lyon Title
Zhang was defeated in the first round of Indian Wells, losing out to Saville 6-3 6-2. However, she should not be disheartened as prior to this Zhang struck gold and secure a WTA title in Lyon.
On her way to the Lyon title, Zhang dropped just one set, defeating Mladenvoic, Rus, Diatchenko (however, this was a retirement 3-0 in the first set), and Garcia before sealing the deal against Yastremska in the final 3-6 6-3 6-4 to lift the trophy.
Another notable result was a third-round appearance at this year’s Australian Open, defeating Golubic and Rybakina in the opening rounds before losing out to Mertens 6-2 6-2 in the round-of-32.
Zhang v Tauson Prediction and Tip
With just 3 places between these two in the WTA rankings, this is destined to be a very close encounter that could easily go to 3-sets, especially if both players bring their A-game to the court. Both players come into this encounter in good form so it promises to be a high-quality match. I think Tauson is the slight favourite to narrowly advance to the next round.
