Dusan Lajovic v Juan-Manuel Cerundulo Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 31 year old Serb, and the Argentine, who is 11 years younger.

Lajovic Has Reasonable Record in Miami

Lajovic has a reasonable record in Miami, having made the third round three times, including last year. For the clay court specialist that represents his best performance in any Masters event played on hard courts.

His form, though, in 2022 has been disappointing so far, beginning with the ATP Cup where he won just one of the four singles matches that he played for Serbia.

Since then, it has been a series of early exits from tournaments, even when playing back on his favourite surface during the South American swing.

His latest setback came in Indian Wells, where he lost to compatriot Filip Krajinovic in the first round, beaten in three sets.

Cerundulo in Wretched Form

Cerundulo was one of the break-out stars of 2021, winning his first senior ATP title in Cordoba, making six Challenger finals (three of which ended in victories) and qualifying for the NextGen ATP finals in Milan.

But, in 2022 that form seems to have utterly deserted him, and he has only won one match this year, and that was back in the first week of January in Adelaide.

Since then his record is played six, and lost six,

Like Lajovic, his Indian Wells campaign ended at the first round stage, thumped by Jack Sock in straight sets, winning just two games.

But unlike the Serb, he has played since, entering a Challenger event in Phoenix in a bid to find some form. The attempt failed – he suffered yet another first round defeat to the British player Liam Broady.

Lajovic v Cerundulo Prediction and Tip

Lajovic is not in the best of form this year, but he is playing an opponent who does not seem able to buy a win for love or money. The Serb should make it through to round two.
