Kalinskaya at Her Career-Best
Following a run of solid form this year, Kalinskaya has hit career-best ranking of 84th in the world and that was the kind of confidence that was on display in the qualifiers in Miami as well.
After having reached the third round at the Indian Wells Open two weeks ago – and that as a lucky loser – Kalinskaya enters this tournament on the back of wins over Anna-Lena Friedsam and Caroline Dolehide in the qualifiers here.
Earlier this season, Kalinskaya has already made it as far as the semifinal in Guadalajara with some sterling performances all season around.
Wins against Alize Cornet and Maria Osorio Serrano, both of whom were favourites going into their respective encounters at various points this year, have made Kalinskaya a little more feared player than the previous seasons.
Question is if she can maintain the same kind of consistency coming into this tournament.

Montgomery Looking to Make Solid WTA Transition
She is just 17 and has already gotten herself a couple of wildcards this season – for the Indian Wells Open two weeks ago and now in Miami here. And that has been down to Montgomery’s performances at the lower level and the kind of talent she has shown on the junior circuit.
The 439th-ranked Montgomery might have lost in straight sets to Kaia Kanepi in the first round in Indian Wells, but with a juniors singles and doubles title at the US Open last year, there is no doubting her talent.
On the ITF circuit, she has already pocketed a couple of finals places to her name, having won one title in 2020.
Can she now win her first main draw match at the highest level against a player who is in form but at times prone to on-court struggles against the run of play?
Kalinskaya v Montgomery Prediction and Tip
Kalinskaya is an in-form player coming up against a super-talented teenager and we can expect this to be a gripping contest that goes to the third set.
Tip: Kalinskaya to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
