World No. 45 Ugo Humbert is hoping for a good spell in Miami following a harrowing start to the 2022 season.
The French youngster has bagged just one win in his last five tournaments on the ATP circuit – coming over Daniil Medvedev in the ATP Cup in early January. Since then, Humbert has featured in the Australian Open, ATP Rotterdam, Montpellier Open, and the Indian Wells Masters.
He was beaten in his opening-round matches falling twice to Richard Gasquet and later to Cameron Norrie and most recently, Holger Rune.
The 23-year-old endured a similar rut in the closing stages of the previous season as well – much unlike his superior start to the year. Humbert reached the latter rounds in a handful of events and also moved on to win the Halle Open – upsetting Alexander Zverev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Andrey Rublev en route.

Bedene, Starting his Season
32-year-old Aljaz Bedene is set to play in his second match of 2022. He is starting in the Miami Open under the protected ranking norm as the Slovenian takes on the courts after a hiatus of over eight months.
He did warm-up for a bit in the Indian Wells earlier in March where he lost his opening match to Kamil Majchrzak 1-6, 5-7. Before that, Bedene’s last tournament was in July in Croatia where he lost in round one to Marco Cecchinato.
It is worth noting that in his long career, Bedene is yet to win an ATP trophy with his last four attempts being unsuccessful. That said, he is fairly experienced and can cause some problems for his opponent.
Humbert v Bedene Prediction and Tip
This is a very good opportunity for both players to build some momentum and confidence.
Humbert, however, has a much better chance of winning this one owing to his regular exposure on the tour and the pedigree. Bedene, on his part, may still be a bit rusty.
