Leylah Fernandez v Karolina Muchova Head to Head

2021 U.S. Open runner-up is making her debut in Miami this year and she begins her campaign in the second round on Thursday. The 19-year-old left-hander comes to Miami in terrific form. She has an 8-3 record this season and that includes a run to the title at the Monterrey Open.
Last year, FFernandez had won her maiden career title in Monterrey. This year she defended the title by defeating Camila Osorio in the final to lift her second career title.
The Canadian didn’t have a great start to the season down under. She lost in the second round at Adelaide-1 and made a shocking first round exit from the Australian Open after suffering a straight sets defeat to Maddison Inglis.
She gained momentum at the WTA 250 in Monterrey and then impressed at the Indian Wells Open with a second consecutive fourth round appearance. Fernandez beat Amanda Anisimova and Shelby Rogers but fell to Paula Badosa in the Round of 16.
The feisty Fernandez will look to get into a good rhythm early and go deep in the tournament.

Muchova Makes a Winning Return
Facing Fernandez will be the Czech Republic’s Karolina Muchova, who knocked out compatriot Tereza Martincova in straight sets in the first round. The win wasn’t an easy one though as both the sets needed a tiebreak to separate the two.
In a close to two-and-a-half-hour contest, both broke each other once in the first set and also traded a break in the second but it was the lower-ranked Muchova who dominated both the tiebreaks to seal a 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-3) victory.
Ranked no. 74, Muchova is making a comeback on the tour in this tournament. She last played at the U.S. Open last year and has been sidelined by an injury since then.
Last year, the Czech had finished with a 19-9 record and that included a semifinal appearance at the Australian Open and a quarterfinal at Wimbledon.
Fernandez v Muchova Prediction and Tip
Muchova is short of match practice and that can work in favour of Fernandez. It is expected to be a good clash with the Canadian advancing.
