Coco Gauff v Qiang Wang Head to Head
They played three times before with Gauff leading the H2H 2-1. Their most recent one came in Australia this year at the Australian Open with Wang winning 6-4 6-2.

Coco Gauff did not open the year in the most satisfactory way. A good showing in Adelaide, terrible on in Melbourne, another bad one in Dubai with a better one in Doha. Indian Wells has been another mixed bag as she lost to Simona Halep in round 3.
Arriving in Miami, Gauff will have huge aspirations trying her best in her ‘backyard’ as she grew up in Florida. It won’t be easy for her as she generally struggled in Miami previously. Last year she crashed out in the 2nd round and she will want to avoid that again.
Qiang Wang is not the best opponent for her as the Chinese player easily bested her in the previous match they played earlier this year. There should be plenty of motivation to avenge that loss though.

Solid, Solid and more Solid from Wang
Qiang Wang has a 12-6 record on the year and that’s quite a bit better than last year. The Chines player had a rough season last year which saw her ranking plummet outside of the top 100 but her recent play suggests she will return that rather quickly.
After a strong showing in Australia, Wang played some lacklustre tennis a couple of weeks before finding her footing again in Monterrey. That translated somewhat to Indian Wells where she played a solid match against a red-hot Bouzkova bot got beaten.
In Miami, it was time to play the qualifiers and he has been quite solid winning two matches comfortably. In round 1 came a hard-fought win with a repeat matchup against Gauff now looming. Can she defeat her again, find out below.
Gauff v Wang Prediction and Tip
This matchup is a very interesting one as they played three times before. Gauff leads the matchup 2-1 but their most recent one was easily won by Wang. There is something that troubles Gauff when she plays against Wang, especially on hard courts.
She bested the Chinese player easily on clay but on hard courts she had some issues. It will be interesting to see whether she has issues once more as her level in Miami has been questionable, to say the least. It would be a big thing for Gauff if she is able to win this match.
It could give her the jolt of confidence she is missing from her game. It’s certainly an important event like the Tour shifts to clay where she had a 16-4 record last year. I’m going to back the American to do it in three sets.
