Maria Sakkari v Beatriz Haddad Maia Head to Head
Although it is 1-0 to Maia, they last met in 2014 in an ITF event. Since then, Sakkari has clearly come a long way and looks primed to get on even terms.

26-year-old Maria Sakkari has taken the tour by storm this season. She became the World No. 3 this week – a career-best for her – after reaching the final at the Indian Wells Open last weekend.
That was Sakkari’s second final in three events with the other coming in St. Petersburg. In both cases, the Greek had to settle for the runner-up trophy but it wasn’t before she defeated a litany of formidable opponents such as Elise Mertens, Petra Kvitova, Elena Rybakina, and Paula Badosa.
Interestingly, Sakkari was also a semifinalist in Doha between these successful competitions.
With the tally now at 16-5, the number four seed is cruising on the circuit and shows no signs of slowing down. What’s even more impressive is that she was a semifinalist the last time she played in Miami. Can she do it again?

Maia Overcomes Diaz
World No. 62 Beatriz Haddad Maia kickstarted her campaign in Miami with a straight-set win over Nuria Parrizas Diaz. Two more wins and she will have posted her best results in the tournament.
Of course, this is easier said than done as the Brazilian hasn’t been in the best of form this season – especially against the top players.
Her last stint was in Tennis Paradise where she was knocked out by Clara Tauson in round two; before that Maia did reach the semis in Monterrey but ultimately fell to Leylah Fernandez. It was a similar story in Sydney and Melbourne Slam where she lost respectively to Belinda Bencic and Simona Halep.
With this kind of a track record against the elites, it is hard to imagine the 25-year-old overcoming Sakkari in this one-sided affair.
Sakkari v Maia Prediction and Tip
Sakkari is in a brilliant form and has everything going on for her at the moment; Maia, meanwhile, is on shaky grounds and not entirely consistent.
We can expect the Greek to win this one, provided she is in the best of shape. At this stage in the tour after relentless tennis, fatigue may be a problem, and players are known to succumb to the upset bug.
