Danielle Collins v Vera Zvonareva Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players at the highest level, with Collins defeating Zvonareva in Madrid in straight sets.
They had also played once in a $125k competition in Indian Wells where Collins had won again.

Having reached the final at Australian Open earlier this season, the world number 11 Collins has had fitness woes in recent times which had made her miss the Indian Wells Open as well.
The American, however, came back reasonably well in her second round win over Anna Bondar as she carved out a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory to seal her berth in the round of 32.
In a match lasting nearly two hours, Collins struggled with her serving as she won just half of her second serves and faced nine break-points in the entire match. She was broken four times but it was that decisive break in the final set that helped her through after a couple of cagey sets.
Collins, who had a first round bye, was down a break in the final set and then was up one before needing to break her opponent in the 10th game to wrap up the match.

Zvonareva Shocks Zidansek
Zvonareva is a former world number two but at 37 years of age, she is beyond her prime. Not to forget, she had come into the Miami Open this season on the back of seven successive defeats.
Having to qualify for the main draw of this tournament, Zvonareva needed three sets in each of those two qualifiers before overcoming Misaki Doi in her opener here.
Against Zidansek, she was an underdog but probably aided by her opponent’s poor form, she knew she had a chance. Would she have guessed the margin of win though? Highly unlikely.
Because in a match lasting a mere hour and a half, Zvonareva defeated Zidansek 6-3, 6-2, as she broke her opponent six times in the encounter.
Collins might be a highly pedigreed opponent but there has been a sense of tentativeness about her – can Zvonareva turn things around against her?
