Iga Swiatek v Cori Gauff Head to Head
The only previous meeting between these two players came at the Madrid Open last year when Swiatek defeated Gauff in straight sets to reach the final.

The retirement of Ash Barty and with Swiatek making it to the fourth round, the WTA tour has a new world number one, Swiatek herself. The Polish player celebrated this news with a 6-0, 6-3 drubbing of Madison Brengle in her third round match, and set herself up a delicious contest for round four.
Swiatek needed just 66 minutes to get past Brengle as she faced just two break-points in the entire encounter and finished things off with five breaks of serves of her own.
And while Swiatek did struggle with her first serves, getting just 51% of them in, she won a whopping 65% of her second serves and that proved to be the difference between the two players.
This follows a 6-2, 6-0 rout of Viktorija Golubic in her second round match, making it a 13th successive victory for the Pole.
She will be extremely confident make it a 14th despite her opponent’s own class.

Gauff Beats Another Chinese Opponent
After a straight-set win over Wang Qiang, Gauff made it another victory against a Chinese opponent in the third round when she overcame a spirited Shuai Zhang to set herself up against Swiatek.
Gauff, now ranked 17th in the world, has had a middling sort of a season so far and was kept on court for nearly two hours before coming through 7-6 (1), 7-5 against Zhang.
An exchange of serves in the fifth and sixth game of the opening set was followed by Zhang getting an opportunity to serve for the set at 5-3. Gauff broke right back and in the tie-breaker that followed gave her opponent no chance.
Zhang responded with an early break before Gauff levelled proceedings in the very second game and had to do that again in the eighth game of the second set. Eventually, it was Gauff’s decisive break as her opponent served to stay in the match to make it through to the next round.
Gauff will hope she can get more than just a mere 53% of her first serves in, when she faces her Polish opponent though.
Swiatek v Gauff Prediction and Tip
Swiatek is a heavy favourite here but can Gauff pull one set off her? Either ways we could see Swiatek getting pushed longer than she has been in this tournament so far.
