Hubert Hurkacz v Carlos Alcaraz Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between both players on the tour.

Title Holder Hurkacz In Semis Again

Pole Hubert Hurkacz came into Miami as the defending champion having won the title in 2021 defeating Jannik Sinner in the final.

It has been another good run in Miami for Hurkacz with him not only making the semis in the singles but also the men’s singles doubles final with John Isner.

Hurkacz started the tournament a little tentative with a tight third round encounter against Russian Aslan Karatsev. But, then a strong win against South African Lloyd Harris set up a quarter-final encounter with 2021 US Open winner Daniil Medvedev.

The Pole was off to a strong start breaking the top seed early but Medvedev broke back to take the set into the tiebreak.

Both players looked in good touch in the breaker but with Hurkacz hitting a strong forehand at 7-7 to force the Medvedev error, it was a 9-7 opening set tiebreak for the title holder.

The heat and the conditions started to get the better of the Russian in the second set as he was visibly uncomfortable with cramps. With Hurkacz breaking at 2-2 in the second set, there was no looking back for the Pole as he made his way into consecutive Miami Open semi-finals.

Alcaraz In Back-To-Back Masters 1000 Semis

Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz has continued his good run from 2021 into this season.

Winning his first ATP 500 on the clay courts of Rio, and breaking into the top 20 in the ATP rankings for the first time, the Spaniard had a good run in Indian Wells last fortnight. Alcaraz made the semi-finals and lost to Rafael Nadal in an almost three hour seesaw battle of inches.

Playing Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in the opener here, Alcaraz did not look at his best missing some forehands that he typically would not.

Nevertheless, the level was good enough for a convincing victory with the Hungarian only winning five games all match long.

The Spaniard continued his strong run of form defeating 2014 US Open winner Marin Cilic and then setting up a fourth round encounter against Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. Coming back from 2-5 down in the first set, it was a scintillating display to win in straight sets by Alcaraz.

In his quarter-final against Miomir Kecmanovic, it was another majestic display by Alcaraz.

Dropping the first set in a close tie-break, Alcaraz won a convincing second set and then came back from minibreak down twice in the decider to prevail and make back-to-back Masters 1000 semi-finals.

Hurkacz v Alcaraz Prediction and Tip

Alcaraz has been the star of the week, but defending champion Hurkacz has been ambling through the draw without much ado in both singles and doubles.

Expect a tight contest with Hurkacz prevailing in a decider.
