Botic van de Zandschulp v Hugo Dellien Head to Head

2021 U.S. Open quarterfinalist Botic van de Zandschulp heads to Marrakesh with a 9-7 season record.
The 26-year-old Dutchman who doesn’t have too much of experience on clay at the top level, defeated Hubert Hurkacz in the first round of the French Open last year. He, however, had one runner-up finish and three semifinal finishes on clay at the Challenger level last year.
This will be his debut appearance in Marrakech, where he brings a career record of 3-1 on clay at the tour level.
The world No. 42 played his only clay court match at the Davis Cup this year, defeating Canada’s Alexis Galarneau in straight sets.
While Van de Zandschulp reached the quarterfinals of the very first tournament in Melbourne this year, he has struggled to go deep since then. But a win over World No. 9 Felix Auger-Aliassime would have done his confidence a world of good. Interesting to see how he goes on clay.

Dellien in Solid Form
Facing Van de Zandschulp is Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien, who has been in brilliant form at the Challenger level this year.
The World No. 90, who is at his best on clay courts, beat Alejandro Tabilo for the Santiago Challenger title last month and then reached the final in Concepcion, Chile, only to finish runner-up to Tomas Martin Etcheverry.
Overall, he has a 2-4 season record at the tour level and is 25-27 on clay in his career.
The 28-year-old Dellien may have an inferior record than Van de Zandschulp at the tour level, but on clay, the Bolivian would start the favourite given his love for the surface.
Van de Zandschulp v Dellien Prediction and Tip
This should be a tough opener for the sixth seed. Given Dellien’s form he could be looking to take out a seeded player on Monday.
