Lucrezia Stefanini v Despina Papamichail Head to Head
While these two players will be facing off for the first time on the WTA circuit, they have played on the ITF tour before this. Twice. And it’s 1-1 on head to head.
The first time they met was back in 2015 in a tournament on clay, and it was Papamichail who had won in straight sets. More recently, on the hard courts of Orlando, it was Stefanini who got her revenge with a straight-set win in the qualifiers.

After a lacklustre start to the season where Stefanini had lost three of the first four matches she played, things had started to look up for the Italian 23-year-old.
She went on to win five straight matches at the Sharm El Sheikh ITF competition to lift the title there, and get herself going for the season, making it her fifth tournament on this circuit.
Unfortunately for Stefanini, that looks to have proven to be a flash in the pan with the 160th-ranked player losing the next four in a row.
It included a first round defeat at that very venue where she had won the tournament, followed by a qualifying loss in Lyon and back to back defeats on the clay courts of the ITF circuit.

Papamichail’s Struggles No Less
Before she blew Astrid Lew Yan Foon off the court with a 6-0, 6-0 win in Le Havre, Papamichail’s record had read a measely three wins to eight defeats this season. And that victory was followed by another defeat in the second round, making it an indifferent season for the Greek player to endure.
Papamichail now plays her first WTA main draw match since her qualification for the Adelaide International where the 171st-ranked player had shocked a couple of higher-ranked players in the qualifiers to enter the first round.
Unfortunately for Papamichail, she hasn’t gotten herself a lot of confidence with her performances even at the ITF level and while her opponent has had her struggles too, it could get difficult for the Greek player.
