Madison Keys v Ulrikke Eikeri Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between the two ladies on the WTA Tour.

World No. 24 Madison Keys is heading into familiar territory following a good start to the season. A champion here in 2019, a semifinalist in 2018, and a runner-up in 2015, the American boasts of a decent track record in Charleston Open.
She is also well-suited for clay and has always fared relatively well on this surface. With a bye here into round two, Keys will hope to start the clay swing on a positive note.
Her exploits so far include winning the singles title in Adelaide 2 and reaching the final four in the Australian Open and the elite eight at the Indian Wells. That said, Keys has also seen her fair share of surprising losses in 2022; she fell to Anhelina Kalinina in the WTA Miami opener and incurred similar shocking losses to Harmony Tan and Petra Martic elsewhere.
While Eikeri is not among the strongest on the tour, Keys may benefit from being a bit cautious.

Eikeri Knocks out Kichenok
28-year-old Ulrikke Eikeri is off to a good start in Charleston, having bagged her first WTA singles win of the season. Playing the fellow qualifier Nadiia Kichenok, she won the match 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.
Up until now, the Norwegian had spent the bulk of her season in unsuccessful attempts to move past the qualifiers or opening matches. Such has been the case for her for quite some time, which also explains her current singles ranking as #283.
Eikeri is more of a doubles player; she is the current doubles No. 50 and has enjoyed a relatively better form there. She also won two doubles titles last season in Lausanne and Tenerife. While she is relatively well experienced on the whole, her lack of singles form and momentum will make things difficult for her.
Keys v Eikeri Prediction and Tip
Keys will start this one as the favourite; given her overall experience and form on clay, she is quite likely to dismiss Eikeri in straight sets with a convincing margin.
