Sam Querrey v Michael Mmoh Head to Head

Querrey Outlasts Galan
Two-time Houston finalist, Sam Querrey made a good start to his 2022 campaign, outlasting Colombia’s Daniel Elahi Galan in a three-set thriller.
Querrey outaced Galan 15-7, and got just one break of serve in the match compared to three breaks from Galan, yet the American’s superior performance in the first and third set tiebreaks handed him a 7-6 (7-0), 3-6, 7-6 (8-6) victory over two hours and 30 minutes contest.
Neither player could break in the first set, but it was Querrey who raced away with the tiebreak winning all seven points. Galan was in ascendency in the second set, breaking twice to shift the momentum.
But Querrey started off the third brightly breaking the Colombian in the very first game only to see the advantage wiped off by Galan in the next game. The set would eventually head to another tiebreak and this one was a close one. Galan had built a 3-5 lead with a mini-break advantage, but Querrey made a strong comeback to win the match.
This was the 34-year-old American’s second win from seven matches this season, which includes a qualifying round loss at the Miami Open.
A 10-time champion on the tour, the 2017 Wimbledon semifinalist will now be looking to build on the first round win after improving to 18-10 in Houston.

Lucky Mmoh to Make 2022 Main-Draw Debut
Facing Querrey in the next round will be lucky loser Michael Mmoh.
The 24-year-old Mmoh, who will be playing his first main draw match of the season, not only got a lucky loser’s position but also a first round bye as he replaces Casper Ruud in the draw.
Ranked No. 226th in the world, Mmoh won his first qualifying round against France’s Sadio Doumbia, after the latter retired while trailing 6-2, 6-7, 4-1. Mmoh then fell to fellow American Mitchell Krueger 3-6, 3-6 in the second qualifying round, but as luck would have it he is now in the Round of 16 in Houston, where he will be making his main raw debut.
Mmoh is more comfortable on hard courts, and that’s where all of his nine Challenger and ITF titles have come on.
On the Challenger tour, Mmoh has featured in one semifinal (Cleveland) and three quarterfinals this year.
