Frances Tiafoe v Pablo Cuevas Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players, with Cuevas having won that 2019 Estoril match in three sets.

Tiafoe Goes Past Giron
It hadn’t been the best of starts to the season for Tiafoe as he crumbled to opening round losses in both the tournaments played in Adelaide. He looked to have finally found some rhythm with successive victories in Miami though before he fell to Francisco Cerundolo in the third round.
Tiafoe will now need to adjust to clay and by the looks of how he went about his business in his opener against Marcos Grion, the American seems to have done a reasonable job of it.
In a match lasting an hour and 28 minutes, Tiafoe registered a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Giron to advance to round two.
There was only one break-point on offer in the first eight games and it came against Tiafoe but in the ninth, he broke Giron and wrapped up the set soon after.
Things went on serve till the sixth game in the second, but a break exchange later, Tiafoe got himself a decisive break in the ninth game again and finished off the encounter.
Can he now make it two in two on clay, something he had last done in 2019 at Madrid Masters?

Cuevas Wins His First Maiden Main Draw Match
36-year-old Cuevas was once ranked 19th in the world but is currently in the twilight of his career. Which is probably why his win over Max Purcell, more than three months into the season was his first main draw victory of the year and it might not have been much of a surprise to anyone.
Cuevas, who started his season campaign in Buenos Aires and then went on to play in Rio, lost in the first round at both. Another opening round loss followed at Indian Wells, before he shifted focus to the Challenger circuit where he reached the semifinal in Santa Cruz.
It was only this week that he finally won himself his maiden main draw match when he defeated Purcell 7-6 (7), 6-3 in a hard-fought encounter that lasted an hour and 45.
He saved a set-point in the first set, and helped himself to a decisive break of serve in the sixth game of the second to carve out the victory.
Can he now do that to Tiafoe too, a player struggling for his own clay court form?
Tiafoe v Cuevas Prediction and Tip
While Tiafoe starts off a favourite here at 1/2, Cuevas might not be a pushover and should take him to a third or even go on to win it.
