David Goffin v Roberto Carballes Baena Head to Head
It is 1-1 at the tour level, but Goffin leads 2-1 when one includes the Challenger Tour.
It will be their second meeting in Morocco. Eight years ago, Carballes Baena beat Goffin in the Round of 32.

Belgium’s David Goffin rebounded after dropping the first set to knock out Spain’s Pablo Andujar in the second round and register his 300th tour-level victory.
In the first set, which swing from one end to the other, Andujar raced to a 1-4 lead following an early break of serve. But Goffin quickly found his range, winning the next four games and serving for the set at 4-5. Andujar refused to surrender and broke back to stay alive. What’s more he got a third break in the 12th game to take the set.
In the second set, Andujar came back from a break down twice to force the tiebreak. Just like the first set, the Belgian had the opportunity to serve out the second set at 5-4 but he couldn’t hold nerves allowing the Spaniard to draw level.
The tiebreak was dominated by Goffin, who got better as the match progressed. He saved all three break points that he faced in the deciding set, and also got the sole break of the set in the sixth game before holding on to the lead for a 5-7, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory.
The two-hour-and-47-minute contest followed a relatively easy 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win over Damir Dzhumur in the first round.
With the win, Goffin improved his season record to 8-9. A five-time champion on the tour, the former World No. 7 was also a quarterfinalist in Sydney but retired mid-match against Andy Murray. He will now be aiming to reach a first semifinal since winning the title in Montpellier in February last year. He has struggled since then, but has looked in good touch in Morocco.

Carballes Baena topples Sousa
Roberto Carballes Baena brought a season tour-level record of 2-8 to Marrakech. But he has got off to a good start on his favourite surface, reaching his first tour-level quarterfinal of the season after two consecutive victories.
While the Spaniard struggled to make an impression on hard courts, he did a good job on clay at the Challenger Tour this year, finishing runner-up at Gran Canaria in February and as quarterfinalist in Marbella.
The clay court specialist had begun his campaign with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-1) victory over Italy’s Marco Cecchinato in the first round. In the next round, he knocked out Portugal’s Joao Sousa in straight sets.
Carballes Baena converted five of six break points and saved four of seven to beat the Portuguese 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) in the Round of 16.
The 29-year-old won his only tour-level title in Quito on clay in 2018. He hasn’t reached another final at the tour-level, but 32 of his 34 finals at the Challenger and the ITF levels have come on clay, and he has won all his 17 titles on the surface.
