Fabio Fognini v Arthur Rinderknech Head to Head

No previous meetings have been had between Fognini and Rinderknech before this.

Fognini Back to Where He Won a Masters Title

His only Masters title had come here in Monte-Carlo and Fognini will hope it can also be a venue where he turns things around.

The former world number nine has fallen to 32nd in the world thanks to his underwhelming form over the past two seasons and it has been no different in 2022. Despite having made the semifinal in Rio his other results haven’t quite been up to the scratch and that can be seen from his win-loss record.

Other than that Rio showing, Fognini is 4-4 on his win-loss for 2022, and enters this tournament on the back of second and third round exits at Indian Wells and Miami Masters.

And this is still better than how his previous season had transpired when Fognini had finished on 22-24 on win-loss. With a tricky opponent to start things off with, Fognini will need to get back close to his best to try and forge ahead.

Rinderknech Hoping to Build on Middling Hard Court Showing

While a 12-8 win-loss record for the season isn’t the best one can expect from Rinderknech, there have also been the odd displays of sparkle for the Frenchman this season.

He has already made it to the final of one ATP event – it was his first ever appearance in a title-decider at the highest level – and Rinderknech followed it up with a semifinal in Doha.

Unfortunately for him, Rinderknech’s form has fallen away a tad after that showing. In the six matches on the ATP circuit that he has played since then, Rinderknech has won just two and lost the rest.

A second round defeat at the hands of Liam Broady in the second round of the Phoenix Challenger would have specially hurt and now that he shifts focus to clay, things could get slightly more difficult.

Especially against a player who is at his best on this surface.

Fognini v Rinderknech Prediction and Tip

Fognini might not have been in his best form but should get past Rinderknech whose own form hasn’t quite soared after the kind of start that he had to the season.

Tip: Fognini to win: 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
