Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina v Marcos Giron Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 24-year old Spaniard, and the American, who is six years older.

Monte Carlo has good memories for Davidovich-Fokina from last year. Not only did he record his first win over a top ten player, when he beat Matteo Berrettini in the second round, but he went on to reach the quarter-finals, his best performance by far in a Masters event
He then followed that up by reaching the same stage at the French Open a month later, before losing to Alexander Zverev.
With the winner of this match due to face top seed and world number one Novak Djokovic in the next round, he knows he will have his work cut out to go deep into this tournament this time round.
He will be glad to have clay under his feet again, but will know that he needs to improve on his performance in Marrakesh earlier this week, where he lost to the Argentine, Federico Coria, in three sets in the first round.

Monte Carlo Debut for Giron
For Giron, this match marks two firsts. His first appearance in Europe this year, and his first match on clay of the season.
Since Australia, he has remained in North America – apart from a brief trip south to Acapulco – where he achieved his best result in Dallas, reaching the semi-finals before losing to Jenson Brooksby in three sets.
He also made the third round in Acapulco, but has been on a disappointing run since then, losing his last four matches, including in the first round in Houston earlier this week.
This will be his debut in Monte Carlo.
Davidovich-Fokina v Giron Prediction and Tip
Although there is not a great deal to separate these two in terms of world rankings, the surface will make a big difference. Davidovich-Fokina is a clay court specialist and Giron is not. The Spaniard can start to work out how he might beat Djokovic.
