Ons Jabeur v Belinda Bencic Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two player and it came in Madrid last year. Bencic had narrowly won the first set before Jabeur retired from the encounter. Later they also faced off in an exhibition event late in 2021 and Jabeur won that in a close three-setter.

Amanda Anisimova had come into her semifinal against Jabeur with some form under belt and when she took the first set, it looked like the Tunisian was in bit of a trouble.
As it turned out, Jabeur fought back to win the match in three sets, needing an hour and 47 minutes to make it to her fifth WTA final. She won 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 to set herself up for her second title at this level.
Jabeur, who had earlier won all three of the rounds in straight sets, faced 15 break-points in the encounter and it was her ability to overcome 11 of them that saved her the blushes.
In contrast she broke Anisimova six times, and allowed her to win just 35% of her second serve points. Against an in-form Bencic, Jabeur will need to up her ante on her serving.

Bencic Continues to Excel on Clay
After back to back first round defeats in Doha and Indian Wells, Bencic was looking for inspiration to turn her season around. And she seemed to have found that in Miami where the Swiss number one reached the semifinal.
The switch from hard courts to clay did not seem to have deterred Bencic too much.
After expected wins in the first two rounds here in Charleston, Bencic surprised Madison Keys in the third round, before registering the shock of the tournament – overcoming a one set deficit to send Paula Badosa packing in the quarterfinal.
And in the semifinals, Bencic registered a 6-4, 6-3 over Ekaterina Alexandrova, needing just an hour and 19 minutes to get there.
Against Jabeur, Bencic will feel a lot more confident but given their previous two results, it could get quite close.

Jabeur starts out as a bit of a favourite on paper but we think Bencic could hold a slight edge and will have to go with her win in this one.
