World No, 25 Alex de Minaur doesn’t have a great clay record and comes to Monte Carlo in search of a first win in the tournament.
On his debut last year, De Minaur was beaten by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the first round. The 23-year-old comes to Monte Carlo with a 12-6 record, which includes a fourth round appearance at the Australian Open and a quarterfinal finish in Rotterdam. He was also in the Round of 16 in Indian Wells.
A five-time champion and four-time runner-up on the tour, the Australian is 6-16 on clay on the tour. Making his debut on clay this season, he will be hoping to start off well.

Zapata Miralles Qualifies for Main Draw
World No. 123 Bernabe Zapata Miralles made it to the main draw after beating Kwon Soon-woo in the first qualifying round and Joao Sousa in the second qualifying round. While Zapata Miralles needed three sets to beat the former, it was a straight sets win over the Portuguese that earned him a spot in the main draw.
The Spaniard is 1-4 in the main draws this year, with his only win coming over Dennis Novak in Pune. He has had five wins in the qualifying rounds of various tournaments this year and most recently played in Marrakech as a lucky loser.
On clay, the 25-year-old is 4-9 over his career and he is 0-2 this season. This will be the first time he will play in the main draw in Monte Carlo. He lost in the first qualifying round last year.
De Minaur v Zapata Miralles Prediction and Tip
De Minaur will be a slight favourite in this contest. Expect him to advance for a second round meeting with fifth seed Andrey Rublev, who has a first-round bye.
