Can Norrie Bring Hard Court Form to Clay?
World No. 10 Cameron Norrie, currently sitting on a career-high ranking, will be making his second main draw appearance in Monte Carlo. The British left-hander, won two rounds in 2019, before falling in the third.
Following a brilliant 52-25 season, which included two titles, including his maiden ATP 1000 title in Indian Wells, along with four runner-up finishes, Norrie is now looking to impress in 2022.
The 26-year-old has already picked up a title in Delray Beach and finished second-best to Rafael Nadal in Acapulco this season and all this following a 0-4 start. He is 15-8 currently, and that also includes quarterfinal finishes in Indian Wells and Rotterdam and a fourth round finish in Miami.
On Wednesday, Norrie will be making his season debut on clay. He is 24-18 on the surface over his career and reached two clay court finals in Estoril and Lyon last season. How far can he go in Monte Carlo?

Ramos-Vinolas Edges Past Griekspoor
2017 finalist Albert Ramos-Vinolas began his 2022 campaign with a tough three-set victory over over the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor.
The 34-year-old clay-court specialist, who won the Cordoba Open title earlier this year, improved his season record to 9-6 following the opening round win over Griekspoor.
In a two-hour-and-30-minute contest, Ramos-Vinolas converted five of nine break points and saved six of nine to score a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 victory. The win also ended a three-match skid for the World No. 37, whose losing run began with a semifinal defeat in Santiago.
He is 8-4 on clay this season and won his fourth career title on the surface by beating Alejandro Tabilo in the final in Cordoba.
Norrie v Ramos-Vinolas Prediction and Tip
Ramos-Vinolas has played plenty of matches on the surface this year, while Norrie will play his first. Also, the fact that the Spaniard is yet to lose to the Briton on clay may play on Norrie’s mind.
Form gives Norrie the edge but based on skills and previous record, Ramos Vinolas is expected to be a slight favourite. This match could go the distance with the Spaniard prevailing.
