David Goffin v Dan Evans Head to Head
They played three times before with Evans winning all three of them. One of those was played in Monte-Carlo last year with Evans winning in three.

David Goffin was not winning a lot of matches in the past six months as a knee injury slowed down his return to peak form. Recently he has been doing just that, winning matches as the Belgian has now won six matches in a row. All six of those came on clay which is also something to keep in mind.
Goffin is 12-10 on the year but as far as clay goes he has been perfect. He’s a two-time quarterfinalist in Monte-Carlo having reached that stage last year as well. Funnily enough, he faced Evans in that match and he will do that once more.
Evans won that match but it was very close and coincidentally that was the best clay event Evans played. The Belgian is far better on the surface and recently he’s been on a roll.

Evans Finally Wins Again
Dan Evans has not been having a very strong season so far with the British player experiencing somewhat of a crisis of results lately. Evans was never fond of clay yet he can play on the surface rather well as his affinity for defensive play allows him to combine his unique skillset o clay rather well.
Prior to coming here, Evans was a 3-match losing streak and he’s only 10-7 on the year without any peak form on the horizon. He defeated lucky loser Benjamin Bonzi in the previous round but the Frenchman gave him a bit of trouble, especially in the 2nd set where Evans had to battle hard.
It’s a good result for Evans but far from an impressive one as Bonzi is allergic to clay. His true test comes against Goffin and keep reading if you want to find out how he will do.
Goffin v Evans Prediction and Tip
So we have two tennis players in a very interesting situation. Goffin is enjoying his hottest streak in a very long time with all six of his victories coming on clay. He’s comfortable in Monaco having lived here for over a decade and he knows these courts well.
Evans doesn’t know these courts too well but he played in the semifinal last year so be aware of that. He’s also not very comfortable on clay and he’s in no particular form at the moment. Everything statistically is pointing towards Goffin as the Belgai nearly defeated Evans last year here as well.
Compared to that time, Goffin is in far better shape while Evans is not. On the other hand, the Brit can give the Belgian trouble with his relentless running and ability to change the pace. If Goffin handles that well he can win. I’ll trust him to do so because if not now then when.
