Grigor Dimitrov v Casper Ruud Head to Head

Dimitrov Beats 2019 Finalist
Dimitrov who reached the quarter-finals in Indian Wells, has a good record in Monte Carlo. The Bulgarian reached the semi-finals in 2018, and has twice also made the last eight.
He had an element of fortune in his first round match with Nikoloz Basilashvili – he was a set and a break-up when the Georgian had to retire with an injury.
But there was no luck involved as he came from behind to beat the 2019 Monte Carlo finalist Dusan Lajovic on Tuesday.
The Bulgarian started badly, was broken in in his opening service game, and Lajovic was able to consolidate from there io take the opening set.
And, went he went a break down in the second set as well, it seemed like Dimitrov’s chances might be over.
But he reeled off four games in a row to level the match, and then got his nose in front when he broke the Serb midway through the third set. Another break underpinned his position, and he was able to serve out to book his place in the third round.

Miami Runner-Up Ruud
This is perhaps, surprisingly, the first time Ruud has played in Monte Carlo, but he arrives in excellent form having won six titles in the past year, including five on clay, and having just finished up runner-up in Miami to Carlos Alcaraz.
Such is his world ranking now that he was given a first round bye, meaning he started his campaign on Wednesday against another Scandinavian player, Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune, the world number 79, from Denmark.
The first set was largely dominated by serve, with the only two break points coming on the Rune serve, which he duly saved.
Rudd went a mini-break down in the tie-break but rallied to take the set.
The Norwegian was the first man to drop his serve in the second set, but immediately hit back to level and then went a break up. Rune, though, refused to he shaken off, responded with a break of his own, only to once more drop his serve again.
Still there was time for another twist as Rune once more got back on level terms, only to once more drop his serve.
This time Ruud decided that he did not deserve any more chances, and served out.
Dimitrov v Ruud Prediction and Tip
This may be the first time Ruud has played in Monte Carlo, but he has shown over the past year that clay holds no fears for him, and he will be confident of making the quarter-finals at the very least.
