Rinderknech Looking for First Win on Clay in 2022
Following a brilliant start to the season, it’s been a struggle for Arthur Rinderknech. The Frenchman was a finalist in Adelaide-2 and reached the semifinals in Qatar Open but has a 1-4 record since his final four defeat to Nikoloz Basilashvili in Doha.
In his last tournament in Monte Carlos, Rinderknech went down to Fabio Fognini in the Round of 64, losing to the Italian 5-7, 6-4, 3-6.
The 26-year-old 6’5″ player performed decently on clay last year, reaching the semifinals in Kitzbuhel and the quarterfinals in Gstaad and Bastad.
This year the World no. 59 is 0-1 on clay and will be looking to make a winning start on his Barcelona debut.
Rinderknech had reached his maiden final at the start of the season in Adelaide-2, beating Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinals and Corentin Moutet in the semifinals before losing to Thanasi Kokkinakis in the final.
It will be interesting to see if he can recapture that sort of form.

Munar Gets Wild Card
Jaume Munar received a wild card for the Barcelona Open, bringing a 4-5 tournament record to this year’s edition. The 24-year-old is a solid clay court player but his best in Barcelona was a Round of 16 appearance in 2019.
Last year, Munar won the first round match against Thiago Monteiro, but was outplayed by Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Round of 32.
The Spaniard, who reached a maiden final at the Andalusia Open in April last year, has seen a dip in rankings this year, falling out of the top 100.
Currently ranked 105th, Munar is 8-10 this year, having reached just one quarterfinal in Melbourne. Most recently, he lost in the first round of the Monte Carlo Open to Federico Delbonis in three sets.
But while he has struggled at the tour level, Munar has done well at the Challenger level, winning a seventh Challenger title in Marbella earlier this month.
Rinderknech v Munar Prediction and Tip
Munar’s experience gives him a slight edge. He has also played more competitive matches on clay this season. Expect him to win in three and advance to the next round for a second round meeting with the ninth seed Nikoloz Basilashvili.
Tip: Munar to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
