Magda Linette v Yulia Putintseva Head to Head
Linette holds an impressive 4-1 lead over Putintseva, last defeating her in the 2021 WTA Strasbourg quarterfinal.

Linette, in a Great Form
World No. 57 Magda Linette is coming off a good run on the WTA Tour. After a mundane start to the season, the 30-year-old Pole turned her form around at the start of the clay swing in Charleston.
In the singles half, she reached the quarterfinal upsetting Leylah Fernandez and Kaia Kanepi en route. In the doubles department, she won the title Andreja Klepac by defeating the pairing of Sania Mirza and Lucie Hradecka in the final.
Both those runs were among Linette’s better performances on the tour; before that, Linette had lost in the early rounds in Miami, Indian Wells, Dubai, Doha, and other events.
As for her overall form on clay, she has had a handful of good runs on the doubles circuit but nothing quite similar on the singles. In fact, her last singles final on any surface came in the 2020 Thailand Open. Perhaps, she can look to make amends for it this year?

Putintseva, in a Rough Form
By contrast, Yulia Putintseva hasn’t had the best of times on the tour recently. She too featured in Charleston most recently but was beaten by Amanda Anisimova 6-1, 6-2, in round two.
Such was the case for the Kazakh in Indian Wells, Dubai, Doha, and Melbourne too. Putintseva hasn’t been in a good form and owing to a lack of consistency, it may be difficult for her to do well in Istanbul. Her best run of the season came in Miami when she reached round three.
Nonetheless, as a two-time French Open quarterfinalist and with WTA two titles on clay courts, Putintseva will still be relatively confident ahead of the clash with Linette. Last year, the 27-year-old reached two finals – going the distance in Budapest.
Linette v Putintseva Prediction and Tip
There isn’t a whole lot separating the #51-ranked Putintseva from Linette. This is a tight fixture but given the Pole’s massive lead over Putintseva, and the odds at which she is available, we can’t resist backing her to win this one.
Plus, she is also coming with quite a bit of momentum on clay and may very well carry her great form in Istanbul.
Tip: Linette to win: 5/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
