Ana Konjuh v Ana Bogdan Head to Head
This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Konjuh, Seeking Revival in Istanbul
Eight years ago, then 16-year-old Ana Konjuh had a breakthrough moment in the 2014 Istanbul Cup when she reached her maiden WTA singles semifinal – as a qualifier – dismissing Elina Svitolina and Magdalena Rybarikova en route. That run eventually propelled her into the top 100.
Since then, Konjuh has reached just three singles finals – going the distance in 2015 in Nottingham and most recently, reaching the final on the clay courts in Belgrade last year.
Unfortunately, the Croat’s meteoric rise was halted when she underwent elbow surgery in 2017 and spent the next few years recovering. While she played sporadically, she didn’t return to the tour for good until last season.
As a former world number 20 and current #63, Konjuh is certainly capable enough of a good run in the tournament. That said, she is still on shaky grounds seeing that she is now on a five-match losing streak.
The 24-year-old started the year with consecutive quarterfinal stints in Adelaide 2 and Melbourne 1 but has since lost her tempo.

Bogdan Clears the Qualifiers
World No. 90 Ana Bogdan started in the Istanbul Cup as a qualifier, defeating Zeynep Sonmez and Berfu Cengiz in straight sets. The 29-year-old will now hope to win her first WTA main-draw match of the season on Tuesday.
So far in 2022, the Romanian has played in an ITF event in France where she won the title; she followed it with opening-round/qualifying defeats in Lyon, Doha, and St. Petersburg. Bogdan did play in the Marbella Challenger earlier this month but lost to Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in round two.
While Bogdan has seen a handful of titles on the ITF clay circuit, the fact remains that in her comparatively longer career than Konjuh, the best ranking she has managed is #59. She has also got just one WTA final to her name whereas the Croat has three and is also a junior Grand Slam winner.
Konjuh v Bogdan Prediction and Tip
Provided Konjuh is physically fit and in good spirits, there is no reason why she cannot win this one. She has a much superior pedigree and overall form; she is also available at good odds and certainly makes for an interesting back.
On a more neutral side, this match can very well be a long one and see over 20.5 games.
