Veronika Kudermetova v Marina Melnikova Head to Head
It’s 3-1 to Kudermetova who last defeated her compatriot in the 2018 WTA Moscow International.

World No. 29 Veronika Kudermetova has had a decent season so far; she is 13-7 already and has two singles finals to her name from Melbourne and Dubai.
She has also done well on the doubles circuit – having won the Dubai Championships and reaching the final in Doha and Miami with Elise Mertens.
Of late, Kudermetova reached the quarterfinal in the BNP Paribas Open (defeating Naomi Osaka and Marketa Vondrousova en route) and the fourth round in Miami.
On the whole, she can also play in a similar manner on clay but could do well with some more promising results. Her sole singles final came in Charleston in 2021 but in bigger events like the French Open, Madrid Open, and Italian Open, she hasn’t quite gone past the third round.
Even then, the third-seeded Kudermetova has beaten a handful of top players in her career and will fancy her chances of a good run in Istanbul. Over the years, she has reached the quarterfinal here in 2019 and the semifinal in 2021.

Melnikova, 17-7 in 2022
33-year-old Marina Melnikova, currently ranked World No. 182, has spent the majority of her 2022 season on the ITF circuit. She has seen some success there as she was a runner-up in Egypt and the champion in Colombia.
She also reached the semifinal in Ecuador and thus taking her tally to 17-7. In the two WTA events she did play in (Australian Open and WTA Doha), Melnikova fell in the qualifiers.
It was more or less the case for her last season too where she reached a couple of ITF finals and the second round in WTA Nottingham.
Kudermetova v Melinkova Prediction and Tip
While Melnikova has some experience under her belt, she is still a comparatively inferior player when compared to Kudermetova. After all, she peaked at #170 in 2015 whereas the number three seed is close to making a top 30 debut.
This is a one-sided fixture where a straight-set win is on the cards for Kudermetova.
