Marie Bouzkova v Varvara Gracheva Head to Head

23-year-old Marie Bouzkova is coming off a decent run on the tour. Most recently, the Czech reached the third round in the Indian Wells Open and round two in the Miami Open – she achieved both those runs as a qualifier while in the former, she dismissed Jessica Pegula early on.
Previously, Bouzkova had also reached her third singles final in Guadalajara (loss to Sloane Stephens) and the quarterfinal in Monterrey. On the back of these results, she is now ranked World No. 77 and is 17-6 in 2022.
As for her performance on clay, it hasn’t been particularly impressive. Her sole highlight is reaching the doubles final in Charleston and round two in the Italian Open.

Gracheva, Hoping for a Good Run
21-year-old Varvara Gracheva has had a pretty bleak season so far; she is 10-7 already with the best run coming in Dubai when she reached round two as a qualifier.
In every other event, Gracheva has had to do for early exits and as a result, she is now World No. 73 – just one spot shy of her career-best position. A switch to less competitive events didn’t help her case either as earlier this month, she lost in ITF Oeiras to Yuliya Hatouka in round two and to Oceane Dodin in the Marbella Challenger.
That said, Gracheva has nine ITF finals (seven titles, two runner-ups) – all of which came on clay courts. She can also surprise as she did in the WTA 250 Chicago last year by reaching the semifinal.
Bouzkova v Gracheva Prediction and Tip
Bouzkova will start as the favourite but given Gracheva’s clay pedigree, this match can swing her way too. In fact, this can quite likely go either way as both are similarly experienced. However, we may very well expect this to go the distance as both players are competitive and are likely to put up a good fight.
