Nikoloz Basilashvili has featured in 10 tournaments this season, but has registered just three wins. Interestingly all those three wins cam in Doha, where he went on to reach the final with those three wins but couldn’t defend his title, finishing second to Roberto Bautista Agut.
Keep his Doha performance aside and he is 0-10 this season. He lost both his matches at the ATP Cup and lost all his opening matches in the other eight tournaments. (He had a first round bye and second round walkover in Indian Wells, but lost the third round match, which was technically his opening match).
Most recently, the 30-year-old Georgian lost to Grigor Dimitrov in the Round of 64 in Monte Carlo. He was trailing the Bulgarian 3-6, 0-2, when he withdrew from the contest.
With that sort of form, the ninth seed Basilashvili will be very low in confidence in Barcelona, where he has a 1-2 record. He is a decent player on clay though and three of his five tour-level titles have come on the surface, with the most recent being the Munich Open triumph last year.

Munar Eases Past Moroni
Jaume Munar made a good start to his Barcelona Open campaign, easing past Italian lucky loser Gian Marco Moroni in the first round.
The Spaniard was in the ascendency from the start, racing to a 4-0 lead before holding on to take the first set with ease. He got a double break in the second as well, taking a 5-2 lead but couldn’t serve out the match as the gutsy Italian saved a match point to pull one break bak. he saved three more match points to hold the next game and then had two break points at 15-40 in Munar’s next service game, but Munar took charge from their on, he saved both break points and eventually converted what was his fifth match point of the match to seal the contest 6-2, 6-4.
With the win, the Spaniard improved his season record to 9-10 and his Barcelona record to 5-5.
The 24-year-old, who plays his best tennis on clay, had won a Challenger title in Marbella this month. On the tour, he has just one quarterfinal appearance this season and that came in Melbourne at the start of the season.
Basilashvili v Munar Prediction and Tip
Munar is a dangerous player on clay, while Basilashvili will be low in confidence. The Spaniard will have the upper hand in this contest. He could surprise the ninth seed on Wednesday.
