Carlos Alcaraz v Soonwoo Kwon Head to Head
This will be a first meeting between the two.

Alcaraz, a Top Contender in Barcelona
He is just 18, but on the brink of breaking into the top 10. World No. 11 Carlos Alcaraz has been in sensational form this year, but suffered a shock second round exit at the Monte-Carlo Masters last week. The Spaniard will be hoping to quickly put that loss to Sebastian Korda behind him and regain his form in Barcelona, where he has an opportunity to become a top 10 player.
The 2021 ATP NextGen Finals champion has an 18-3 record this season, which includes two titles. He started the season at the Australian Open, falling in the third round, but then went on to capture his first ATP 500 title in Rio, defeating Diego Schwartzman in the final. He then made it to a first-ever ATP 1000 semifinal in Indian Wells, but lost to Rafael Nadal in a close three-set contest.
Alcaraz put the Indian Wells disappointment behind him as he raised his level in Miami and went all the way to the title, beating Casper Ruud in the final and becoming the youngest ever Miami Open champion in the tournament’s 37-year history. That triumph also made him the third youngest ATP 1000 champion.
With the win in Miami, Alcaraz now has three ATP titles, having also won in Umag last year.
He suffered an early shock in Monte-Carlos, but having already won a title on clay this year he will be confident of quickly getting back to winning ways.

Kwon Knocks Out Paire
World no. 71 Soonwoo Kwon knocked out France’s Benoit Paire in the first round on Monday.
The South Korean needed an hour and 29 minutes to dispatch the World no. 60, 6-4, 6-4.
Both players exchanged a break early in the first set, but Kwon got a second break in the 10th game to take the first set. In the second set both players saved a break point each in the first nine games to stay on serve but it was in the 10th game, when Kwon wasted three match points before finally converted the fourth to break Paire and take the match.
The win improved Kwon to 10-9 for the season. He has won the first round matches in eight of the 10 events he has featured in this year, with the other two wins coming at the Davis Cup.
The only time he lost in the first round were in Indian Wells and Miami and he failed to qualify for Monte Carlo. So the win on Monday also ended a three-match losing streak for the South Korean.
Alcaraz v Kwon Prediction and Tip
This should be a one-sided affair, with the in-form Alcaraz rolling past the South Korean.
