Can Rublev Replicate His Early Season Form on Clay?
Second seed Andrey Rublev begins his Serbia Open challenge on Thursday. The 24-year-old brings a 19-5 season record to the tournament and has already won two titles this year taking his overall tally to 10.
After falling in the third round of the Australian Open, Rublev reached the semifinals of the Rotterdam Open, but couldn’t defend his title, falling at the final four stage to Felix Auger Aliassime.
He got his revenge against the latter in the final in Marseille the very next week, winning his first title of the season and then continued his win streak in Dubai the next week, capturing the second title of the season by beating Jiri Vesely in the final.
Rublev won four more matches in Indian Wells taking his unbeaten run to 13 matches and also reaching the semifinals, but eventually his run ended with a semifinal defeat to Taylor Fritz.
Since then, he lost his opening match to Nick Kyrgios in Miami and could win just one match in Monte Carlo, beating Alex de Minaur in three but lost to Jannik Sinner in the third round.
Rublev has a 35-24 overall record on clay and he has won two titles on the surface. He will be won of the top contenders in Serbia.
