Ons Jabeur v Daria Kasatkina Head to Head

Things are quite close between the two players; the tally is tied at 2-2. Jabeur won their last two matches (both in 2021) with the most recent encounter coming in the WTA Montreal round of 32.

Kasatkina Carves Gauff Upset

Daria Kasatkina is off to a blazing start in Stuttgart as she defeated Cori Gauff in the opener with 6-4, 6-2. The 24-year-old has visibly struggled on the tour as she incurred a litany of early exits in the last few events.

Kasatkina will now hope for a reprieve on the clay swing where, on the whole, she has been less than successful. Apart from a sole clay title in Charleston and a couple of quarterfinal stints in the French Open and Madrid Open, the #26th-ranked player hasn’t accomplished a whole lot on the surface.

Nonetheless, when combined with her overall form and pedigree, Kasatkina will fancy her chances in the tournament. Historically, she has never made it past the second round here so it will be interesting to see how she fares.

As for her run so far this season, Kasatkina started with consecutive semifinal appearances in Sydney and Melbourne but has since faded on the circuit.

Jabeur Survives Vondrousova

Tunisian No. 1 and number seven seed Ons Jabeur struggled a bit against Marketa Vondrousova but managed to keep her at bay with 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Now ranked World No. 10 with a tally of 12-6, the 27-year-old is all primed to build on her recent success in Charleston. Jabeur successfully made it to the final there – for the second successive season – but once again had to settle for the runner-up trophy. This time, she lost to Belinda Bencic but not before dismissing Anhelina Kalinina and Amanda Anisimova.

Jabeur has also been quite consistent this year with three back to back quarterfinal runs in Sydney, Dubai, and Doha.

Kasatkina v Jabeur Prediction and Tip

When compared to Kasatkina, Ons Jabeur isn’t particularly behind. She is a top 10 player and has seen her fair share of wins against the big guns. Meanwhile, her opponent is also quite talented but hasn’t been in the best of the form of late.

Jabeur will start as the favourite but Kasatkina’s chances of making a comeback aren’t as bad as one may imagine. This can quite likely swing either way but we may very well be looking at a three-setter.
