Anett Kontaveit v Ekaterina Alexandrova Head to Head
It is 2-0 to Kontaveit, who last defeated Alexandrova in the final of the 2021 Kremlin Cup.

Anett Kontaveit started the season on a blazing note with a semifinal in Sydney, the title in St. Petersburg and a runner-up feat in the Doha Open. Over these matches, the Estonian dismissed some big names like Jelena Ostapenko, Elise Mertens, Ons Jabeur, and Belinda Bencic.
However, in the BNP Paribas Open and Miami Open, Kontaveit was clearly seen struggling as she lost early in both those events – respectively to Marketa Vondrousova and Ann Li in three sets.
The number five seed will hope to shake things up a bit on clay and Stuttgart is a good place to start for her. She has always fared well in the tournament, having reached the quarterfinal at least in all of her appearances here. Kontaveit was also a runner-up in the 2019 edition.
Currently ranked World No. 6, Kontaveit has seen her share of brilliant runs although, on clay, the frequency of such performances is quite low. It will be intriguing to see how she fares in the latter rounds here. In the opener, she dismantled the local favourite Angelique Kerber 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Alexandrova Knocks out Zhang
Ekaterina Alexandrova was also off to a good start in Stuttgart as she overcame Shuai Zhang 7-6(5), 7-6(8).
The 27-year-old is now 9-7 this season with her best run coming as recently as the Charleston Open; she reached the semifinal there before bowing out to Belinda Bencic. Prior to that, Alexandrova had to settle for early losses in the six preceding tournaments – including BNP Paribas Open and Miami Open.
The #39-ranked Alexandrova may be as experienced as Kontaveit but when it comes to skills and abilities, she is still far behind. She hasn’t got a solid record on clay courts either but she does carry a punch.
Kontaveit v Alexandrova Prediction and Tip
Kontaveit is the clear favourite here; there is no doubt about it. She has the form, momentum, and pedigree needed to reach the quarterfinals here. However, it may not be a straight-set win for the Estonian.
