Stefanos Tsitsipas v Grigor Dimitrov Head to Head
Tsitsipas leads Dimitrov 2-1. The Greek also won their only meeting on clay at the French Open in 2020, winning the Round of 16 match in straight sets.

Tsitsipas Toughs It Out Against Ivashka
Top seed and World no. 5 Stefanos Tsitispas won a tough second round contest against Ilya Ivashka on a rain-hit Thursday to extend his unbeaten streak to six matches and move into the Round of 16 of the Barcelona Open.
The 23-year-old, who lost in the Barcelona Open finals to Rafael Nadal in 2018 and also in 2021, improved his tournament record to 11-3 as he edged past Ivashka 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. The two-hour-and-11-minute contest saw Tsitsipas convert four of 15 break points and save two of three. He also served five aces and won 73% points on the back of his first serves.
Barring a tough second set, which was won by the World No. 44, Tsitispas was more or less in control despite the adverse playing conditions.
The Greek, who successfully defended his Monte Carlo Masters title last week, has now captured eight ATP titles from 19 finals. Thursday’s win improved his season record to 23-7, which also includes a runner-up finish in Rotterdam and semifinal finishes at the Australian Open and the Acapulco Open.

Dimitrov Rallies Past Coria
Grigor Dimitrov fought back from a set down to trump Argentina’s Federico Coria in the second round.
The 14th seed Bulgarian, who had a first-round bye, was broken four times in the match (thrice in the first set), but he clawed his way back into the contest, capitalising on five of nine breaking chances (two in the first set, one in the second and two in the third) to take the two hour and 18 minutes contest 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Following the win, the world No. 23 has improved his 2022 record to 12-7 and he is 5-1 on clay, thanks to his run to the semifinalist at the Monte-Carlo Masters last week.
He had also featured in the semifinals of the season opener in Melbourne and the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells Open and the Delray Beach Open.
The 30-year-old is an eight-time tour-level champion but hasn’t won a title since 2017. He has also not reached a final since his defeat in Rotterdam in 2018.
This is his fifth appearance in Barcelona, with his best being a quarterfinal finish in 2018. Can he reach another quarterfinal on Friday?
