Yulia Putintseva v Anastasia Potapova Head to Head
Putintseva won their only meeting at a qualifying round in Brisbane two years ago.

World No. 51 Yulia Putintseva rebounded after losing the first set against Ajla Tomljanovic on Friday to march into the semifinals in Istanbul.
The 27-year-old Kazakh player, who won her second WTA title by triumphing in Budapest last season, had not gone past the round of 32 this season and will be happy with her entry into the first semifinal of the season.
In the first set on Friday, Putintseva came back from a break down on two occasions, but Tomljanovic got a third break in the last game to go one-set up.
Putintseva wasn’t broken again in the match as she broke the World no. 41 twice in the second and once in the third to win the match 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 in two hours and 45 minutes.
She had begun the tournament with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 win over Magda Linette in the first round and then hustled past Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson 6-2, 6-4 in the second round on Thursday.

Potapova Breezes Past Sorribes Tormo
Facing Putintseva in the semifinals will be Russia’s Anastasia Potapova, who breezed past Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo in straight sets.
The World no. 122, who has reached two tour-level finals in 2018, has been in terrific form in the tournament.
She had beaten Dea Herdželaš 6-1, 6-7, 6-2 and Andrea Lazaro Garcia 6-2, 6-4 in the two qualifying rounds to make the main draw and then continued the winning momentum in the main draw. She defeated the Czech Republic’s Nikola Bartunkova 6-1, 6-4 in the first round and then knocked out No. 60 Petra Martic 6-2, 6-3 in the second round on Thursday.
She didn’t drop a set in the quarterfinal either, knocking out Sorribes Tormo 6-2, 6-2. Broken just once in the first set, Potapova converted all five break points in the match to send the World no. 47 packing.
Putintseva v Potapova Prediction and Tip
This will be an interesting match between two players who have struck form. Putintseva is the more experienced player, particularly on clay, and she will be expected to reach her first final of the season.
