Felix Auger-Aliassime v Carlos Taberner Head to Head
They played once before and it came last week in Barcelona with Auger-Aliassime winning 6-1 3-6 6-4.

Felix Auger-Aliassime did not start off his clay season in great fashion. The Canadian had a terrible clay season last year posting a 4-6 record which is rather strange because overall he’s been pretty solid. He started off this year in spectacular fashion as well but his level dropped off significantly on clay.
His struggles started sooner though so with him it’s mostly about confidence which has been wonky at times. Barcelona last week had some decent moments as he took down a couple of solid clay players losing to Diego Schwartzman in the quarterfinal.
He could have won that match so he should be a bit more confident this time around. Facing a player he bested last week should help him enter this match at ease as he continues to build up his form for Roland Garros.

Taberner Back In Top 100
Carlos Taberner had a really good going in Barcelona which earned him enough points to come back into the top 100 where he belongs. The Spaniard should feel very comfortable in Estoril as the courts rather play to his strengths. His forehand should do him well and his serve can be useful as well.
The wind is something he did not have to battle in Barcelona but overall he’s a clay player and he will always do better on this surface. His opponent is one who showed him his weakness last week but Taberner did not have enough.
He was quite lucky to get to a 3rd set though and he will need to step up if he wants to do it again.
Auger-Aliassime v Taberner Prediction and Tip
So these two players played less than a week ago in Barcelona and Tabener was playing a rather strong match. Even so, Auger pretty much controlled the entire match with a very bad collapse in the 2nd set giving it away. The Canadian generally could have played much better and if he did he would have won in two sets.
I expect him to win it this time in straight sets as he now knows exactly how to attack his opponent and how to beat him. I expect him to be comfortable in this match knowing he already bested him before and I don’t think Taberner will put up the same effort without his native Spaniard supporting him.
