Paula Badosa v Veronika Kudermetova Head to Head

There have been three previous main draw matches and one qualifying round encounter between these two players and Kudermetova leads 3-1.

While Badosa has won their most recent match, which came in Indian Wells earlier this year, Kudermetova has triumphed in their only previous encounter on clay that came in 2021 in Charleston.

Badosa Solid on Clay

We mentioned in our head to head section that the only encounter between these two players had resulted in Badosa losing to Kudermetova last year.

That was one of Badosa’s only three defeats on clay in 2021 but more vitally she had gone on to win 17 matches alongside that, one of the best records on red dirt for the season.

Those 17 wins included a title triumph in Belgrade – one of two titles Badosa won in the year – and semifinals at both Charleston and Madrid while finishing off the season with a career-best Grand Slam showing at French Open.

The Spaniard had made it as far as the quarterfinal in Roland-Garros before losing a ripper of a three-setter to Tamara Zidansek.

She has a quarterfinal appearance in Charleston and a semifinal in Stuttgart under her belt this year, but up against a challenging opponent like Kudermetova, Badosa will need to use all of her experience to get by.

Kudermetova Finalist in Istanbul

Kudermetova is coming off a bitter-sweet previous week.

On the one hand, the Russian reached the final of the Istanbul Cup which included a win over Sorana Cirstea in the semifinal, while on the other Kudermetova would have been expected to go on to win her third career WTA title as she took on fellow Russian and a player ranked outside the top 100 at that time, Anatasia Potapova.

Unfortunately for Kudermetova she was left clueless and fell to a 6-3, 6-1 defeat to Potapova.

What makes things trickier is despite her solid form (16-8 this season) and a rank of 25th in the world she has been drawn up against the second seed in her very first round. Can she shrug off the Istanbul final reversal and get herself a shock win?

Badosa v Kudermetova Prediction and Tip

This could turn out to be another good contest with Kudermetova’s 7/4 odds looking like a tempting option despite her opponent’s far superior ranking. Expecting Kudermetova to win a set here.

Tip: Kudermetova to win a set – Yes: 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
