Petra Kvitova v Jil Teichmann Head to Head

Former World No. 2 Petra Kvitova hasn’t had the best of time on the tour of late as she is now on a three-match losing streak.
The three-time Madrid Open champion lost her opening round bouts in Charleston and Stuttgart, respectively to Magdalena Frech and Karolina Pliskova. However, it is worth noting that with Frech, the Czech retired in the second set.
Now placed #30 in the singles ranking, Kvitova’s form has gradually dropped this season. Her sole highlights include reaching the quarterfinal in Dubai and Miami while last year, she could manage only one singles title – in WTA Doha.
Kvitova has also endured quite a few surprising defeats in 2022, notably to the likes of Priscilla Hon, Irina-Camelia Begu, and Sorana Cirstea.
Nonetheless, she has a good record in Madrid having reached the quarterfinal here in her last two appearances. Perhaps, that can come in handy as she looks to deliver a turnaround.

Teichmann, Capable of Surprises
Jil Teichmann is not among the most consistent players on the WTA Tour but that isn’t to say she can’t pull a punch or two.
While a good chunk of her campaigns has ended in early exits this year, there is a notable exception to this – in WTA Dubai. As a qualifier, the 24-year-old Swiss reached the quarterfinal after upsetting Katerina Siniakova, Elise Mertens, and Elina Svitolina.
Since then, Teichmann has been beaten in the opening rounds in Indian Wells and Miami; Most recently, she lost in Istanbul to the #194 Julia Grabher in round two.
On the whole, she has two clay titles and a runner-up trophy from the Cincinnati Open last year. She has beaten a few top 10 players in her career already so the precedent is set for her when she takes on Kvitova.
Kvitova v Teichmann Prediction and Tip
Kvitova’s continued struggles imply that it may not be a straightforward match for her when she plays Teichmann. In fact, backing the Swiss here may also lead to good returns as her chances of winning aren’t as bad as what the bookmakers make it to be.
Plus, the Czech is far off her glory days and at this point, winning this match may prove to be a challenge for her. Nonetheless, she will start as the favourite on account of her superior overall form.
