Emma Raducanu v Tereza Martincova Head to Head

It’s advantage Raducanu with 1-0 who defeated the Czech in the Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers this year with 7-5, 7-5.

Raducanu, Looking Confident

Reigning US Open champion Emma Raducanu looks to build her form on clay ahead of the French Open. She started the preparations in Stuttgart earlier this month where she reached the quarterfinal after upsetting Storm Sanders and Tamara Korpatsch.

She ultimately lost to Iga Swiatek 4-6, 4-6 but in the process, she did give the Pole a run for her money.

Since her defining run at the Flushing Meadows last year, Raducanu has managed only two quarterfinal appearances – the first one coming in Cluj-Napoca later in the season. In other events, the World No. 11 has fallen quite early – notably in Miami (defeat to Katerina Siniakova), Indian Wells (loss to Petra Martic), and the Australian Open (loss to Danka Kovinic).

While Raducanu is a talented player and a prodigy in the making, some may argue that she still has ways to go. This, in all likelihood, may make things a bit tricky for her when she takes on Martincova.

Martincova, on a Four-Match Losing Streak

Tereza Martincova finds herself in a pickle as she is coming off a four-match losing streak. The #49-ranked Czech has lost early in Istanbul, Miami, and Indian Wells, respectively to Anna Bondar, Karolina Muchova, and Paula Badosa.

It was the same case for her in the Australian swing as well. Her best run of the season came in Doha where she reached the round of 16 after dismissing Elina Svitolina and Arantxa Rus.

However, on the doubles circuit, she has fared better this season with two runner-up trophies from Melbourne Set and Adelaide International.

Raducanu v Martincova Prediction and Tip

Raducanu will start this match as the odds-on favourite but Martincova has got a good chance here to shake things up a bit and topple the number nine seed.

The Czech has the skillset needed, having beaten players like Paula Badosa, Barbora Krejcikova, Kiki Bertens, and Jelena Ostapenko in the past. This match essentially boils down to who gets off to a good start – that said, we are quite likely looking at another long affair.
