Bianca Andreescu v Alison Riske Head to Head
They played once before and it came last year in Indian Wells with Andreescu winning 7-6(2) 5-7 6-2.

Good Return for Andreescu
Bianca Andreescu returned from injury in Stuttgart playing her first matches of the year there. She looked pretty good scoring one win over Jule Niemeier and losing to Aryna Sabalenka in three sets. That match against the Belarurrisna caught many by surprise because Andreescu was pretty much in it the entire time.
It was rather impressive as Sabalenka was playing a pretty strong event and reached the final later on. Andreescu showed a solid level of confidence for a player who struggled so much with injuries in the past months. That can only bode well for her as the clay season continues.
She’s been pretty solid on the surface in the past and Madrid will be a great chance for her to show what she can do. If she can build up her form and confidence she might even be a dark horse for the French Open. She is simply that good at her peak.

Resurgent Year For Riske
Alison Riske is having a really good year which is pretty special for the American who was ranked rather high before the pandemic hit. Once it hit, her play deteriorated and she generally missed quite a bit of time with various on and off-court things.
Now, back to regular playing in 2022, Riske has an 11-8 record which is pretty good for her. She’s back in the top 50 as well and she will be targeting that top 20 return where she was before the pandemic started. She’s never been a very good clay player so this part of the season is going to be a struggle for her.
Recently she’s been rather solid wining a match in Charleston and losing to Sabalenka in the 2nd round. She then scored a god win over Yastremska in the Billie Jean King Cup so her form is pretty solid. Can she continue on clay? I doubt it.
Andreescu v Riske Prediction and Tip
So this is a matchup between two similar players but with a wide talent gap. Andreescu is the far more talented player overall but she’s been out of tennis and Riske is probably more fit at this point in time and in better form. Even so, Adnreescu has shown more success on clay than her opponent who struggled on the surface forever.
Andreescu also played on clay last week while Riske is coming off of a hard court outing which will it make harder for her to adjust to the different surface. She did play two clay matches on green clay but that’s a very different surface than red clay.
Andreescu played on the red clay, she looked pretty solid and she built up some confidence with a strong showing against Sabalenka. All of that will help her win this match so back the Canadian to get the job done.
Tip: Andreescu to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
