Emil Ruusuvouri v Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune Head to Head

The pair have never played each other once before. This will be the first match between the 23-year old Finn, and the Dane, who is five years younger.

Ruusuvouri in Good Form

Ruusuvouri arrived in Germany in reasonable form on clay, having reached the third round in Barcelona last week, before his run was ended by another Scandinavian player in the form of Casper Ruud.

And he has maintained that level of performance so far in Munich, although the Japanese qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka did take the first set of their match to a tie-break, before going on to suffer a straight sets defeat.

His match with the American Maxime Cressy was more straightforward. Two breaks of serve saw the Finn establish a firm grip on the first set. The world number 65 pulled one of them back, but then dropped his serve once more, and the set belonged to the Finn.

One break of serve in the second set was all that Ruusuvouri needed to wrap up the match.

Rune Stuns Zverev

Rune had yet to arrive consecutive ATP tour matches this year before arriving in Munich, and although he impressed in beating the Czech player, Jiri Lehecka, the world number 88, in straight sets in the first round, few gave him much chance of improving on that record against the top seed and world number one, Alexander Zverev.

Instead, though, he stunned the German crowd and produced the biggest victory of his career so far. It was not only the fact that he won though that caught the eye, but the manner of his victory.

He broke the German in his opening service game, and, when Zverev rallied and broke him back, he had the presence of mind to immediately break again. Then serving for the first set he came under tremendous pressure, missed five set points, and had to survive two break back points, but held his nerve and finally secured the game and the set.

An early break of serve put him in control of the second set, and then another underlined his dominance.

Zverev never seriously threatened a comeback and rather meekly bowed out of his home tournament.

Ruusuvouri v Rune Prediction and Tip

Ruusuvouri is the higher ranked and more experienced player, but Rune will be brimming with confidence after his victory over Zverev, and will believe he is deserving of a place in the semi-finals.
