Grigor Dimitrov v Maxime Cressy Head to Head
They played once before and it happened in Melbourne this year with Cressy winning 7-5 7-6(9)

Dimitrov’s Clay Surge
Grigor Dimitrov was not having the best sunshine double despite a quarterfinal in Indian Wells but his fortunes changed when he moved to clay. Monte-Carlo has been the home of Dimitrov for many years so it was no surprise he found comfort in the Principality.
He played a really strong event reaching the semifinal and losing to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in a tight 3-setter. He followed that up with a solid outing in Barcelona but he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the 2nd round. Now in Madrid Dimitrov will try to keep up the high level.
He’s 12-8 on the year and he will look to improve that in Madrid. It’s not been his best clay event in recent years as he lost his first match in all three previous editions.

Cressy Getting Used to Clay
A serve and volley player usually does not do well on clay yet Maxime Cressy is slowly starting to make it work. His biggest weapon is his massive serve it’s been working rather well in the qualifiers so far.
He won two matches after playing in Munich and in Barcelona the week before.
The American is playing a lot of tennis this season and for a very good reason. He’s broken inside the top 100 and he wants to keep that momentum going. He’s 15-12 on the year and that’s pretty okay for his first season on the top level. Clay is still not very natural for him but Madrid suits him.
It suits him because it enhances his serve with the balls flying really fast due to the altitude. It worked so far for him and with a win against Dimitrov earlier this year it’s not unthinkable to see him win again. Keep on reading if you want to find out if he does.
Dimitrov v Cressy Prediction and Tip
Grigor Dimitrov and Maxime Cress played once this season and it was the American who won that close MATCH. I think this match will be another close one as both should benefit from the altitude. Neither is particularly great at returning and I’m sure we will see at least one tiebreak.
With that in mind, the over might be something worth exploring but if you’re wondering who might win well it’s rather simple. Dimitrov is the better clay player as he moves on the surface more naturally. Cressy does not move so well but he does not need to in Madrid.
Serve and volley is perfectly viable on these courts and he will certainly try. If he can serve well things might be tricky for Dimitrov. After all, Dimitrov has struggled in Madrid historically and all three losses came against strong servers. If you think Cressy will put up a clinic back the American, I will because it has tremendous value.
Tip: Cressy to win in three sets: 5/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
