Carlos Alcaraz v Cameron Norrie Head to Head

Alcaraz has a 2-0 lead over Norrie, having beaten him in the first round of the U.S. Open last year and the quarterfinal of the Indian Wells Open this year.

Alcaraz Extends Unbeaten Run

Newly crowned Barcelona Open champion Carlos Alcaraz claimed his first win as a top 10 player on Tuesday, as the 18-year-old began his quest for a Spanish double with a straight sets win over  Nikoloz Basilashvili in the second round of the Madrid Open.

Alcaraz made a slow start, conceding an early break and falling behind 1-3 in the first set. But the Spaniard quickly turned things around, breaking his opponent thrice and winning five consecutive games to close out the set.

The Georgian was the first to break in the second as well, going 0-2 up, but Alcaraz got the break back in the fourth game, only to see Basilashvili go up a break once again in the very next game. But he couldn’t serve out the set at 4-5 with Alcaraz breaking again to send the set back on serve.

There was no stopping the Spaniard, who clinched the next two games as well to win the match 6-3. 7-5 in an hour and 23 minutes.

Alcaraz, who turns 19 on Thursday, has been in unbelievable form this year and a 24-3 record testifies that. The Spaniard, who picked up his maiden title in Umag (clay) last year, has added three more this year, triumphing in Rio, Miami and Barcelona. He is looking unstoppable at the moment and that will be a cause of concern for his next round opponent.

Norrie Sees Off Isner

World no. 11 Cameron Norrie battled past John Isner in a two hour and 16 minute the second round on Wednesday.

The Briton endured 29 aces from the big-serving American, but was broken just once in the match, while converting three of seven to take the contest 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4. Norrie struck 21 fewer aces than Isner, but double faulted just once in the match, while the American double faulted nine times.

The 26-year-old lefty improved his record to 19-10 this year. He had won his first-round match against Soonwoo Kwon, beating the South Korean qualifier 7-5, 7-5.

The 2022 Delray Beach Open champion, Norrie was also the runner-up in Acapulco, but is yet to reach that deep on clay courts this season. Wednesday’s win improved his clay record to 4-2 in 2022. He had reached the last eight in Barcelona in his previous tournament.

Alcaraz v Norrie Prediction and Tip

Alcaraz was the superior player in their previous two meetings and is a better player on clay as well. To top it all the Spaniard is in sensational form and should win their first meeting on clay with ease.

Tip: Alcaraz to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
