Stefanos Tsitsipas v Andrey Rublev Head to Head

They played ten times overall with each winning 5. The most recent one happened at the 2021 ATP Finals with Rublev winning 6-4 6-4.

Tsitsipas Continuing Clay Excellence

Stefanos Tsitsipas is not missing a beat on clay as he took down a very solid Grigor Dimitrov in Madrid. The Greek player never ran into any kind of trouble all match long against Dimitrov who played one of his better events this year.

Tsitsipas is 26-8 on the season with a 9-1 record on the year. Just like last year, he was the first player to 25 wins and he’s looking really sharp in Madrid. He played in the final in 2019 and since then he became a much more consistent player so there he can play well here.

Rublev is an old opponent and the duo have played numerous times over the years. Some of those wins stung Tsitsips a lot and he is always motivated when he takes on the Russian. Don’t expect anything different this time around.

Not Playing Great But Winning

Andrey Rublev is yet to play a great match in Madrid but even with below-average performances, he is in the quarterfinal. Some of that was due to the draw but mostly it was due to his unwillingness to lose matches. Dan Evans gave him everything he can handle but he prevailed despite starting off the match shaky.

Rublev was so annoyed with himself that he punched the racquet again, and once again he drew blood. It’s becoming a habit of his in moments of frustration and he talked about wanting to cut that out. He will have a tricky time against an in-form Tsitsipas.

Like Stefanos, Ruble has had a brilliant year. He is 25-5 on the year with several trophies to his name. He has beaten Tsitsipas in the past yet on clay he generally loses. Can he do it this time. Find out below.

Tsitsipas v Rublev Prediction and Tip

These two players know each other really well and generally, there are no secrets. They know the strengths and weaknesses of each other and they know how to beat the opponent. It mostly comes down to who plays better on that day.

Rublev generally has more success on hard courts and indoors compared to Tsitsipas but the Greek has been better on clay. Rublev also won on clay once in Hamburg when Tsitsipas practically threw the match away. In the last two, the Greek never looked in trouble.

I expect a similar trend to continue here as well as Madrid plays quite a bit slower than usual. In those conditions, Tsitsipas should have the advantage and he looked much better than Rublev so far. The Russian barely escaped against Jack Draper and he struggled with Evans as well.

Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
