Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina v Ilya Ivashka Head to Head
The pair have played each other once before, on the clay of Marbella last year, Ivashka winning in straight sets.

Monte Carlo Finalist Davidovich-Fokina
It is an indication of how far Davidovich-Fokina has come in twelve months that, this time last year, he had to qualify for the Rome Open, before going on to lose to Novak Djokovic in the third round.
That provided the springboard for the Spaniard, and he carried that form through to the French Open where he made the quarter-finals.
Back on his favourite surface of clay in Monte Carlo last month, he pulled off a major surprise by avenging that defeat by Djokovic, the biggest win of his career to date, and went on to reach his first Masters final, eventually losing to the defending champion, Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Perhaps suffering a hangover from that, he lost in the second round in Estoril to the American, Frances Tiafoe, and again in Madrid last week, going down to the Pole Hubert Hurkasz in a third set tie-break.

Ivashka Not Overburdened with Expectation
This will be Ivashka’s debut in Rome, although he may not step on court with a great deal of expectation.
He has failed so far this year to find the form that saw him reach the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2021, and then win his maiden ATP title at Winston-Salem.
And he also knows that clay is not his favourite surface, and that he is playing an opponent brought up on it.
He did, however, win his first round matches in Barcelona and Munich, before losing in three sets to higher ranked men than him.
His campaign in Madrid was less successful – he won the first set of his opening round match with the Italian Lorenzo Musetti, but dropped the next two and made an early exit from the tournament.
Davidovich-Fokina v Ivashka Prediction and Tip
Although Ivashka did win their one previous match on clay, there is little in his recent form to suggest he is capable of producing a repeat of that performance. Davidovich-Fokina will be aiming to go deep in this tournament in preparation for the French Open.
Tip: Davidovich-Fokina to win: 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
