Hurkacz Continues to Remain Solid in 2022
He might not have won a single title this year but Hurkacz has done enough to prove his previous season’s exploits were no flash in the pan.
A winner of three titles in 2021, Hurkacz has shown solid strength and consistency this season too and that can be exhibited by his deep runs in most of the tournaments he has been a part of.
And taking a step further this season, Hurkacz has also managed to put up a couple of decent showings on clay too.
At Monte-Carlo Masters, Hurkacz reached the quarterfinals following three wins before losing to Grigor Dimitrov and then repeated the same result in Madrid last week too. The Pole sent out both Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Dusan Lajovic en route another quarterfinal before he met his match in the world number one Novak Djokovic.
Now coming up against an in-form Goffin, Hurkacz will need to continue to remain at his best but should have the confidence under his belt to tame his Belgian opponent.

Goffin Nearly Takes Down Nadal
It’s been a comeback season of sorts for Goffin, who had had a torrid time over the past couple of year before this. So much so that the former world number seven needed to come through the qualifiers at Madrid last week to make it to the main draw.
Following that, Goffin surprised the world with victories over Aslan Karatsev and Botic van de Zandaschulp but his biggest scalp, not just in that tournament but that of his career probably, would have come in the form of Rafael Nadal.
Goffin took Nadal to the third set, where he was down 1-4 in the tie-breaker before rattling off five points in a row to earn himself two match-points.
There two more match-points that followed before Nadal showed enough tenacity to close the match down 11-9 in the tie-breaker.
Can Goffin overcome his Polish opponent to continue showing the kind of sparkle that had seen him win the title at Marrakesh and enter third rounds at both Monte-Carlo and Madrid Masters?
