Nikoloz Basilashvili v Dan Evans Head to Head
They have only met once, in Wimbledon 2019. Evans won in straight sets, though Basilashvili’s record on grass is not great. Basilashvili has more experience on clay, having played thrice more matches than the Briton in this surface.

Basilashvili Seeking a Deep Run
Nikoloz Basilashvili has yet to make any deep runs this year other than reaching the Finals in Doha where he finished runners up to Roberto Bautista Agut.
The Georgian failed to defend his Munich title in the previous week. However, he showed some promising shot making in Madrid, defeating Fabio Fognini in the first round with some stunning winners.
He lost to in form Carlos Alcaraz in the second round and put up a great fight in the second set, the Spanish wizard taking it 7-5.
Basilashvilli has 3 titles on clay and has made some decent runs in Rome back in 2018 and 2019. He would fancy himself against Evans on clay and set the tone for a better clay swing.

Evans Hoping to Break Opening Round Jinx in Rome
Britain’s number 2, Dan Evans has never made it into the second round in the Italian Open. He won a couple of qualifiers in 2019, however he is yet to win a first round match here.
Evans comes here with some confidence having beaten Bautista Agut and Federico Delbonis in Madrid. Against the Spaniard, he came back from the grave as Bautista Agut was serving for the match in the third set.
He then faced in form Russian, Andrey Rublev in the round of 16 match. Though Evans had an early break, he couldn’t capitalize as Rublev went on to win in two tough sets.
This is a much better draw for Evans as he has always faced seeded players in this Open. After winning 7 out of 9 matches in Australia earlier in the year, his form has faded. The two wins in Madrid will boast his confidence but Basilashvilli is a very tricky opponent. Evans will believe he can win a first round match in Rome this time.
Basilashvili v Evans Prediction and Tip
Dan Evans is one of the best in change ups and can easily break Basilashvili’s baseline rhythm with such variation. Evans should win it in 3 sets.
Tip: Evans to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
