Elena Rybakina v Elina Avanesyan Head to Head

They never played before.

Mediocre Clay Season for Rybakina

Elena Rybakina is not having the great of years considering her potential but the player from Kazakhstan will be hoping to improve her clay record which could be better. She was pretty strong on the surface in recent years as her groundstrokes are capable of doing a lot of damage.

She is 16-8 on the year which looks very good on paper but she could have had an even better overall score had she not dropped a few matches she should have won. On clay, it’s 3-3 so far which is okay but a defeat to Teichmann in Madrid should have been avoided.

Stylistically Rybakina is very hard to play against but so much of her play is dependent on her serve and if it’s not working she is very vulnerable. Some unfamiliarity with her opponent might also prove troublesome to overcome.

Rise of Avanesyan

Elina Avanesyan is a fairly young player from Russia who is known for her clay prowess. The youngster is 84-38 on the surface all time but those wins mostly came against lesser-known players. She has not much tour-level experience and obviously, that will take time to develop as well.

Playing professionals will take some time to get used to and it doesn’t get much trickier than Rybakina. She will bombard Avanesyan and see whether she can handle it. The youngster played in the qualifiers and did just fine but both of her opponents are not known for aggressive tennis.

Rybakina is and that will be something very different. If she can rise up to the occasion she can continue her rise this season which got her very close to the top 100.

Rybakina v Avanesyan Prediction and Tip

As these two never played against each other it’s somewhat tricky to gauge just how they will do against each other. Generally speaking youngsters crash and burn every time they face a pro, especially one that is ranked in the top 20. Rybakin is a fairly strong clay player and Avanesyna, while good on the surface, generally does not play top talent on it.

I think this is a matchup Rybakina must win. We might see three sets simply due to the unfamiliarity but I see no way Rybakina loses this mach. If she does, well, what can you do, it’s just one of those days. Back Elena to topple Elina and good luck.

Tip: Rybakina to win in straight sets: 1/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
